The A.I.S.E. Charter for Sustainable Cleaning is a voluntary initiative of the Soaps, Detergents and Maintenance products industry designed to bring benefits for society and the environment. The Charter is a life-cycle based framework for promoting a common industry approach to sustainability practices and reporting. It covers a wide variety of activities and initiatives ranging from, for example, the human and environmental safety of chemicals and products, eco-efficiency to integrated product policy. Going beyond current legislative requirements, the Charter is aimed at driving the industry towards continual improvement in sustainability. Companies participating in the Charter will apply sustainability thinking at all phases of the product life-cycle, from product design, through manufacture, to use and disposal. This means they will not only be active in reducing impacts on the environment but also in guarding the health and well-being of customers and consumers, in operating with high ethical standards and in contributing to economic advancement.
